From the Chair

ITC 2011 is almost upon us, and I am in the process of getting materials ready for our Poster and Fringe Meeting at the conference, and the poster itself was submitted a few weeks ago for inclusion in the CD-ROM of presentations.

The key date for SJTAG will be Wednesday: September 21st. The Poster will be held during the lunch period on that day (look for Poster 29.5) and then our Fringe Meeting will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM, immediately after the posters. This is an open meeting, so you don't need to be an active member of the group to attend - if you have that time slot available in your schedule then please join us!

ITC Test Week will be held at the Disneyland Hotel, Anaheim, and runs from 18th to 23rd of September, with the main conference and exhibition from 20th to 22nd.

AESA Radar

SJTAG Poster for ITC

In our Poster this year, we're including a small example of a practical, if imperfect example of a SJTAG application using current, available technologies.

This looks at a Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar antenna and illustrates some of the compromises that have to be made in this "real world" implementation compared to the types of architecture that we might consider to be ideal.

Late News: The early registration deadline for ITC has been extended until midnight PDT on September 2nd, so there's still time to book your place at the discounted rate!

Back to Basics

Memory Test

One of the difficulties that the SJTAG Group has been trying to tackle is understanding exactly what characteristics of a device or circuit are really important to the task being performed, whether that is an interconnect test, device programming, or some other operation.

This question becomes further clouded by aspects of hierarchy and multiboard design within the typical systems that we consider, to the extent that the fundamental principles can be overlooked.

With this idea in mind, recent group meetings have turned to looking at very simplistic models, often just the interaction of two devices, to gain a grasp of those key attributes. This exercise has brought some forgotten thoughts back to the front of our minds and exposed some new considerations. Keep watching our meeting minutes for further information as it is published.
