Issue 7 - March 2009

Any comments on this newsletter can be mailed to admin@sjtag.org.

From the Chair

A very brief "heads up" on what you can expect to be happening with SJTAG during the coming months:

● We expect to be running our 2009 Survey during late spring, so if you haven't notified your interest yet, then please do so.
● Our PAR (Project Approval Request) to the IEEE Standards Association is in draft: Upon acceptance we will become a formal IEEE Working Group and will be assigned our "P" number.
● ITC is in Austin, Texas this November, and SJTAG expects to be presenting a Poster Session again this year.

So, if you have an interest in system-level JTAG, and would like to help shape SJTAG, then please join us.

Virtual Systems

In order to build a better understanding of how our Use Cases might be realised, we have started to take some of these and begin fleshing out virtual system designs which would support the Use Case.

In this way, we hope to be able to explore data requirements and persistency, what design features are required, what conflicts exist, etc.

You can join the discussion in our forums on our first two topics: POST and EST.

Wiki software update

During March, we upgraded our wiki software to the latest version of MediaWiki (v1.14.0). As with our Forums ugpgrade last month, this was done to keep abreast of the latest security patches.

While the upgrade generally went quite smoothly, we did initially find an issue where uploading of images to the wiki was not working, and some existing images would not display as "thumbnails" correctly. We believe all problems are now fixed, but if you find anything else then please report it to admin@sjtag.org.

Most users will see little or no difference in the appearance or function of the wiki.

Draft for 1149.7

The ballot on the draft 1149.7 standard is drawing to a close as this newsletter goes to press.

Is this "reduced-pin and/or enhanced-functionality" JTAG something you have been waiting for or is it just another factor to confuse your design decisions?

Is it a crucial technology for SJTAG implementors or a limited use tool for specific markets? Make your opinions known by joining in our forum discussions.
