2. Agenda
- Joel moved to accept the agenda, seconded by Brad, no objections.
3. IEEE Patent Slides
- {Slides 5-10}
- Patent and Copyright slides reviewed without comment.
4. Review and Approve Previous Minutes
- {Slide 11}
- Meeting #93, January 18 (draft circulated January 18)
- No corrections noted.
- Brad moved to approve, Joel seconded, no objections or abstentions → minutes approved.
5. Review Open Action Items
- {Slide 12}
- [91.1] Ian: Check with Tom Thompson on using deputies to support Secretary role.
- Either adopt a Recording Secretary in addition to an Administrative Secretary (where both need to be IEEE-SA members)(requires P&P update) or minimise content of minutes.
- Unsure if slides used during the meeting and referenced by minutes constitute part of the minutes or attachments to the minutes. ONGOING
- Action Item Register: http://files.sjtag.org/P2654WG/ActionItemRegister.xlsx
6. Inter-group Collaboration
- {Slide 14}
- 1149.7 is about 80% through comment responses, may take one more meeting.
- TTSC agenda is due to be published Wednesday (27th).
7. Discussion Topics
7 a) Rules required (or scope of rules) in standard
- {Slide 15}
- Bullet points presented as discussion starters.
- No questions arising from January 18 notes.
- Appears to be a decoupling of "Rules" from "Applications": Rules are independent of programmed state but applications (what you can do) are dependent on programmed state.
- Maybe can't define what the rules are yet, but ought to be able say what rules should be aiming to do.
- Firstly, should be definitive about what needs to be described.
- What the "entities" (device, board, sub-system, etc.) comprise
- Software Interfaces
- Dependencies
- Category
- Hardware Interfaces
- What the "entities" (device, board, sub-system, etc.) comprise
- A number of detail points emerge for each of these headings (detailed on slides 27-29); some particular points:
- "Entities" here are "nodes" in the topology.
- Client and Host Interfaces considered as the external facing interfaces of the entity.
- Transformation Strategy Interface is a means to plug in an externally described transformation algorithm for that entity.
- Entities can be categorised by broad behaviour. Brad's demonstration (WIP) proposes a number of such categories.
- Within Hardware Interfaces, unsure if things like gated or selective clocks are necessarily part of the required entity description.
- Can we assume that all end-point targets can be represented or considered as "registers" in some form?
8. Any Other Business
- {Slide 16}
- None.
9. Today's Key Takeaways
- None.
10. Glossary Terms from This Meeting
- None.
- Carried over:
- System Element.
- System Resource.
- 'System' needs the concept of a controller capability added.
- "Filtering" may need to be defined.
- "Translation" may need to be defined.
- "Interface" is missing.
- No obvious IEEE accepted definition.
- 1687 has definitions for specialised forms: Device Interface and Instrument Interface.
- We may need specialised forms for Software Interface and Hardware Interface.
- "Interface" is overloaded and requires disambiguation.
- 1687.1: Transformation.
- IEEE 1856: Sense - "Sensor" done, Acquire, Analyze not really defined.
- Device - do we mean a packaged device? May be many devices in a package. "Device" is often used as a modifier, e.g. "device package", "device identification".
- Use Case Context, Application Context
- Legacy Infrastructure, SJTAG Infrastructure (placeholders for now, really for working group to define).
- "Generators": May need to be qualified as "Test Generators" (used by the integrator/tester) and "Model Generators" (used by IP providers, interface designers, etc.).
- AccessLink and DataLink descriptions will need to be revised.
- See P1687.1's definitions on Slide 31 of the pack presented by Jeff Rearick on Jan 14, 2019.
- "State", "Vector", "Sequence" and "Pattern" as proposed at April 8, 2019 meeting.
- "Event", "Access Interface" as proposed at April 15, 2019 meeting.
- 'Port' needs to be developed.
11. Schedule next meeting
- February 1, 2021
12. Topic for next meeting
- Secretary role
- Rules: Use of the Descriptions (possibly extend Descriptions)
13. Reminders
- Reiterate: Michele Portolan has proposed a workshop at ETS 2021 but no offers of contributions so far. Related to a special session of papers to be run by Martin Keim.
14. List New Action Items
- None.
15. Adjourn
- Brian moved to adjourn, seconded by Peter.
- Meeting adjourned at 12:03 PM EST
Respectfully submitted,
Ian McIntosh
