3. IEEE Patent Slides

  • {Slides 5-9}
  • Patent slides reviewed.
    • No comments.

4. Review and Approve Previous Minutes

  • {Slide 10}
  • Meeting #12, March 18 (draft circulated March 18)
    • No further corrections noted.
    • Brian moved to approve, Terry seconded, no objections or abstentions → minutes approved.

5. Review Open Action Items

6. Discussion Topics

6 a) Update on WG Elections {Slide 12}

  • A question had arisen over the eligibility of a nominee to vote for themselves. It was determined that there is no rule on this so by inference it is allowable. However, as some nominees may have voted on the assumption that it was not permissible, Brian is extending the voting by 24 hours to elicit updated or reaffirmed votes from the relevant nominees (only one office is contested).
  • Brian will then tally votes and have these verified by the Auditors.

6 b) Differences between retargeting and transformation cases {Slide 13}

  • The diagrams/slides used for the last two meetings {slides 14 - 24} is included in the pack for reference, as is a slide from Jeff Rearick {slide 25}.
  • Discussion around the use of P1687.1 in many of the examples:
    • Do we know how deep into P1687.1 we go? Question applies from the P1687.1 perspective too. No defined hand-off as yet, part of this exercise is to help work out the answer.
    • P1687.1 is convenient to use as a "template" for other interfaces. It is a parallel development and we have some members in common.
  • Brad presented the first few slides of a pack he was preparing jointly for P2654 and P1687.1 (excerpt, slides presented today: http://files.sjtag.org/P2654WG/Transformation_vs_Retargetting_Meeting_13.pdf). Brad was looking for constructive feedback on the material presented.
  • In trying to assemble the slides, Brad had found it necessary to do some work on defining terms {slides BGVT 2, BGVT 3}.
  • Retarget:
    • "Scan vectors" may be too limiting, simply "vectors" is more generalised.
    • What is meant by "structure" in this context required some explanation.
    • Data needs to both to and from the instrument through the retargeting.
  • Transform:
    • Definition has no tangible link to what is actually being transformed. This was intentional, in order to avoid making it limiting to specific interfaces.
    • Isn't described in the same kind of terms as "retarget" is. May want to describe in terms of how it differs from "retarget" or make reference to "protocols" and "structure".
  • Event, Pattern Retargeting, Retargeter and Access point {slide BGVT 3}:
    • In Pattern Retargeting, prefer "vectors" to "scan vectors" again.
    • Access Point is distinct from AccessLink.
  • {slide BGVT 5} Two model classes (to be dicussed at a later date): "Request and Response Model (Bottom Up Approach)" and "Discover and Conquer (Top Down Approach)".
  • Preview of diagram style to be used later {slide BGVT 6}.

7. Any Other Business

  • {Slide 26}
  • TESTA workshop preparation:
    • Jan can be assisted by Brad, Joel, Louis, Ian and Heiko.
    • The period immediately after the regular weekly meeting is broadly suitable for most of the participants, so the existing WebEx can be held open (and anyone interested can contribute).
    • Commence next week (April 1).
    • Additional discussion can take place via email between meetings.
  • AutoTestCon paper can be largely aligned with TESTA presentation.
  • Project Bastion ("Board and SoC Test Instrumentation for Ageing and No Failure Found") may be of interest to some of the group: http://fp7-bastion.eu/index.php
    • EU funded so information may not be very accessible for non-EU entities.

8. Today's Key Takeaways

  • None.

9. Glossary Terms from This Meeting

  • None - definitions discussed today are a "work in progress".
  • Carried over:
    • "Interface" is missing.
      • No obvious IEEE accepted definition.
      • 1687 has definitions for specialised forms: Device Interface and Instrument Interface.
      • We may need specialised forms for Software Interface and Hardware Interface.
      • "Interface" is overloaded and requires disambiguation.
    • 1687.1: Transformation, Retargetting.
    • IEEE 1856: Sense - "Sensor" done, Acquire, Analyze not really defined.
    • Device - do we mean a packaged device? May be many devices in a package. "Device" is often used as a modifier, e.g. "device package", "device identification".
    • Use Case Context, Application Context
    • Legacy Infrastructure, SJTAG Infrastructure (placeholders for now, really for working group to define).
    • "Generators": May need to be qualified as "Test Generators" (used by the integrator/tester) and "Model Generators" (used by IP providers, interface designers, etc.).
    • AccessLink and DataLink descriptions will need to be revised.
    • See P1687.1's definitions on Slide 31 of the pack presented by Jeff Rearick on Jan 14, 2019.

10. Schedule next meeting

  • April 1, 2019 (normal timing for Europe).

11. Topic for next meeting

  • Differences between retargeting and transformation (continuation).

12. Reminders

  • TESTA preparation discussion to follow immediately after the April 1 meeting.

13. List New Action Items

  • None.

14. Adjourn

  • Louis moved to adjourn, seconded by Jon.
  • Meeting adjourned at 12:13 PM EST

Respectfully submitted,
Ian McIntosh
